My passion for photography began years ago, back in the days of analog. From the very beginning, I was completely captivated by the process. But even then, I faced one major challenge—developing a personal style.

I wanted to photograph everything.

One moment it was a brightly colored oil slick on wet asphalt… the next, a macro shot of an angry bumblebee… then the nuts and bolts holding a bridge together. My curiosity had no boundaries. At times, I questioned my own sanity—and honestly, so did my wife and a few friends.

Color is one of the most powerful forces in photographic storytelling—yet it often works in silence. Before a viewer interprets subject, composition, or symbolism, their subconscious has already reacted to the palette.

Enthusiasm is often mistaken for simple excitement—but in photography, it carries a deeper meaning. The word stems from the Greek “entheos,” meaning “filled with inspiration” or “guided from within.”

Bit depth in photography significantly impacts image quality and editing. It describes the level of color information each pixel can hold, affecting smoothness in gradients. Higher bit depths, such as 14-bit or 16-bit, provide more colors and editing flexibility, reducing issues like banding and enhancing shadow and highlight recovery.

There’s something magical about an early morning stroll through the CBD. The soft golden light bouncing off glass facades, the streets still catching their breath before the daily rush, and the unexpected architectural details that often go unnoticed in the hustle of everyday life—all perfect moments for a keen photographer’s eye.

Each place we visit has its own particular look, character, and ambiance. If we want photographs of our travels to be good and lasting, they should capture all of these qualities, and say as much about a place as give the literal look of it.

So, you want to be a stock photographer? The tone of that question has the ring of an old song by the Byrds, “So You Want To Be A Rock ‘n” Roll Star.” As Roger McGuinn of the Byrds would continue, “Well, listen now to what I say. . .”

Stock photographers, in their own way, are rock stars. Not the flamboyant personalities who dominate the stage but, instead, the competent backing band that bring quality picture images to the business and entertainment world.
